Chef John Besh's AUGUST -- 301 Tchoupitoulas St., New Orleans, LA 70130
August is located in an historic four-story “French-Creole” building dating from the 1800s, in New Orleans’ Central Business District. The interior is rich with original architectural details, such as gleaming hardwood floors, soaring columns, mahogany paneling and antique mirrors. Monumental floral arrangements provide an air of festive luxury. The restaurant has entry from the street into the bar. The dining area includes the elegant main dining room and adjacent two-story wine room, plus an upstairs banquet room available for private parties.

The restaurant offers wines from France, Italy, and the United States, showcasing the best from boutique wineries. A full-service bar features a selection of unique martinis and bottled beers from all reaches of the globe.
John Besh is a chef and native son dedicated to the culinary riches of southern Louisiana. At each of his six acclaimed restaurants (August, Besh Steak, Lüke, La Provence, American Sector, and Domenica) as well as in his entrepreneurial pursuits, his first cookbook, My New Orleans (Andrews McMeel Publishing, October 2009,) and his public activities, he celebrates the bounty and traditions of the region.

A former U.S. Marine, Besh has been honored by Food & Wine ("Top 10 Best New Chefs in America;") Gourmet Magazine ("Guide to America’s Best Restaurants;") Food Arts (Silver Spoon Award;) and the James Beard Foundation (Best Chef – Southeast.) The restaurant was named Clementine Dining & Spirits to pay tribute to owner Wayne Peltier's favorite artist, Clementine Hunter. Clementine’s famous backwards-C & H insignia into our logo and the placement of our silverware.  As the story goes, Clementine thought the normal C was rude, with its back to you, so she signed her C backwards with its arms reaching out to hug you.

A Clementine Hunter is prominently displayed near the turn of the century mahogany bar and local artists are displayed throughout the restaurant.
